Our New Student Teacher

Dear Students and Parents,

I want to extend to you and your child my warmest greetings. My name is Mrs. Lynnette Garces and I will be Mrs. Oshiro’s student teacher for January 13 through April 29, 2009.

I am currently in the process of completing my Master’s in Elementary Education at University of Phoenix and will be graduating this coming May upon completion of student teaching. In the past year, I have been working as a long-term substitute teacher for teachers on maternity leave. The schools I have long term substituted for were Pauoa Elementary (5th grade), Manoa Elementary (4th grade), and Waialae Elementary (Kindergarten).

To share with you a little more about myself, I enjoy hip-hop dancing, modeling, learning how to cook, and window-shopping. However, I mostly enjoy traveling with my husband. My husband and I like to volunteer our time helping out the less fortunate in developing countries such as Cambodia, Fiji, Nepal, Thailand, and the Philippines. We recently returned to Hawaii from the Philippines where we visited our 5-year-old sponsor child for the first time.

I am excited and honored to have the opportunity to student teach at Momilani Elementary along side the mentorship of Mrs. Oshiro. I am also looking forward to teaching, exploring new things, and interacting with you and your child this upcoming semester.

Sincerely,

Mrs. L. Garces

Dear 5th grade teachers,
According to the calendar, there will be no school this Friday the 13th. Is that true? My child is not aware of it.

Thank you.

Dear 5th grade teachers,
Do you know the reason why the HSA Testing is scheduled for the week the students return from Spring Break and Intersession?

Sincerely,

Dear Mrs. Garces,
You are an awesome teacher. You have all the fun activites that help us learn. For example: You use the power point slides instead of having us use our flash cards. And you have the best science activites too. I think my favorite one was the science quiz becuase we won and we had fun... Keep up the good work and I look forward to doing more fun activities with you the rest of the year.
