"Music of Dolphins"

Momilani's 4th, 5th, and 6th graders attended HTY's play, "Music of Dolphins" at Tenney Theater yesterday. This theatrical production is based on the novel with the same name, but the addition of video, music, and dance brings this story to life.

The story focuses on a girl named Mila, who is being raised by dolphins, but is soon discovered by Coast Guards and brought back to live with researchers. She is taught the English language, human rules and expectations, about locked doors and broken promises, disappointment and betrayal. Mila tries her best to play their games, wear their clothes, and even eat their "dead" food, but she never can truly understand their ways. She longs for her dolphin "family", the ones that care for her and who she cares for, her ocean home where "all the time is swimming and all the time is singing..". Which world does Mila choose?

Here are some pictures of the field trip:

Dear fifth grade teachers,
I really didn't understand the play but it was fun. It was cool how the juy - justin and sam could change so fast from points to points. Once he was justin now he's sam. anyway the play was cool and I look forward to going to more field trips to the HTY.

Dear teachers,
I really think that the teachers deserve a time off because they always go on field trips, teach(of course) and many other things.

Dear Mrs.Oshiro,
I thought the play was super cool. I thiught it was cool because they found a girl stranded on an island and taught her how to read.

Dear 5th grade teachers,
I thought the field trip was very fun and unusual because you would never find a girl in the ocean that speaks whale.

Dear 5th grade teachers,
The play was scary because when the lady picked up the chair and started to run around with it and I thought she was going to throw the chair at the audience and another scary thing she did was when she hit the tv with her hand and when she hit the tv it made really scary noise.

Dear Fith Grade Teachers,
I really had fun on our field trip. A lot of people found it boring and slept through it but I personally thought it was interesting. The only part I didn't like is the bus ride. I almost fell asleep untill all of my neighbors started bothering me. What I really liked in the play is how they got KGMB9 to act a little.
Good job on the blog,

I didnt really get the play but it was pretty fun. My favorite part was when the dolphin girl spoke when she first came out of the water. It sounded funny!!!!
