Aloha Run Newsletter

Mrs. Oshiro, and some of the fifth grade students at Momilani Elementary participated in the Aloha Run on Monday February 16, 2009. Today Mrs. Garces interviewed three students who had participated as a runner and as a volunteer.

Student number 10 and 26 signed up to run the Aloha run because they both thought it would be a good experience and that it would be fun. Student number 48, signed up to volunteer instead of running because she wanted to see what it was like to help out at the Aloha Run. She also needed to raise money to pay for her supplies for girl scout. Mrs. Oshiro signed up for the Aloha Run to do something healthy and active with her children. She would call it the Aloha "walk" and not "run" because she would walk all the way to the finish line. Mrs. Oshiro shared that the Aloha Run makes good conversations with fellow teachers and friends while walking, and a great way to fellowship.

Mrs. Oshiro, and the three students shared that the people were energetic and friendly throughout the event. Both runners and volunteers said that they enjoyed the event, however they were tired at the end of the run. All would like to sign up again for next year to see if they improved on their finish time.

For next year, Mrs. Garces and Mrs. Oshiro challenges you to sign up for the Aloha Run. The event is a great way to get active in a healthy way. You will have lots of fun too.

Dear Mrs. Oshiro and Mrs. Garces,
I will want to try and sign up for the aloha run next year but I'm very busy with robotics, taiko, swimming and student council. The loha run miight fall on one of those days when I have something that involves an activity of mine. If it doesn't overlap with my activities I will ask my mom if I can sign up next year.

Dear Mrs.Oshiro,
I think it was really great that you took part in the run and challengered yourself. That is a great way of being a good role model for the fith grade. I also give credit to others who took part. I think I will sign up for the run next year but I don't think it will be near as tiring as the twenty mile hikes or ten mile hikes I've went on.
Great Job on the run,
Student #38 =D :) ;)

Dear 5th Grade Teachers,

The Aloha run sounds great. The Aloha run sounds fun I hope I can do that next time they have one. If I can go I want to go with my friends and we can spend time together just like how some other students did.

Dear 5th grade teachers,
How was the Aloha Run? I'm sure it was fun and you probably so tired!

I'm thinking of doing it next time. You must have had to train a lot before you went
It was 8 miles long!!
