This week in Math, we are learning measurement conversions. Today, Mrs. Garces did a fun activity on measurement conversions because she wanted to incoporate the Math lesson into something we can do in real life. We also learned from the fun activity. We made Jell-O Pudding Dirt Cups!
First of all, we were assigned to bring some cooking supplies for the activity. Before we got to do the exciting project, we had to fill out a worksheet using the knowledge we previously learned (measurement conversions). An example of what we did was " You will need 4 ounces + 1 cup + 4 ounces = _____ how many cups of milk will you need?" We had to figure out what goes in the blank, which is 2 cups. We had to figure out the problem in order to find out what the recipe was. If we were to convert the measurements incorrectly our dirt pudding would not come out correctly. All of the group took their time in finding out the recipe.
Then, after we finished filling out the worksheet we started making the pudding. We followed our filled in recipe and poured 2 cups of milk into our big tin bowl and added the Jell-O pudding mix. After we put it in we stirred it until it was well blended, then let it sit for 5 minutes. Last we got to add gummy worms, Oreo cookies, and whipped cream. Finally, we got to take a picture and split it with our group. All of the groups dirt pudding came out good. We made a cup for Mr. Honda, too! To sum up, we had a great time and learned something new!
Here are some pictures:
The end product!

Dear Mrs.Garces,
I had lots of fun in math today. Making that pudding was a blast although it wasn't that great in taste to me. The thing thats so awesome is that we were kind of doing something educational. Considering we were practicing for what we learned in class. I hope we do more fun activities again.

Dear Mrs. Garces
The pudding was so much fun! It was also very yummy. Our group did
just fine. The pudding came out wonderfully! It was so neat that you put this all together. Lastly
thanks for having this spectacular activity!

Dear Mrs. Garces,
When we were doing the project I enjoyed the process of making the pudding the most. I liked it the most because we got to do it ourselves and it was good that our group did it correctly, or else we would have not been able to eat it. Last the pudding tasted so good, although I ended up having a little stomach ache from eating too much chocolate. So that is what I enjoyed about this activity, plus many more things.

Dear Mrs. Garces and Mrs. Oshiro,
This was an AWESOME activity. Thank you mrs. Garces for putting it together. It was alot of fun. We learned that math can be fun in many different ways. We also learned teamwork and conversoins more. Our pudding we made tasted awesome. Ours was full of teamwork and alot of gummys... I don't know about the other groups but theirs looked good too. Mrs. Garces sure is a fun teacher to be around. She teachers you things in a fun way that you auctually don't want to miss school because you know you will miss out. People who do miss school really wish they were here. I kinda think we made Mr. Hondas math group jelious. We were eating our delicious pudding while they sat in sadness. hehe
Anyway, that was a fun review about conversions and I am confident I will do good on my test.

Dear Mrs.Garces,
I had so much fun when I was making pudding at math with my friends. I really had a great time. My group did so great. We enjoyed our pudding. Thank you so much for making that fun activity. Now I want to make it at home with my family.

Dear Mrs.Garces,
The pudding was awesome! I loved it but i thought that with too much candy in the pudding is too much sugar.Even though it was sweet i still thought it was fantastic.

Dear Mrs Garces & Mrs. Oshiro,
I thought that that was a great thing to do for learning about measurements. I also think that that was a very tasty experiment! It tought us more abought measurements, teamwork ang to not have too much sweets at one time.:)I also, think that we should do more activities just like that one so we could learn new things in a very fun safe and yummy way of learning. To conclude, i'm just saying that that was one of the funnest most tasteist things I have ever done in math. P.S (I hope we do more again later in the other chapters!)
See you later from,

Dear 5th grade teachers,
I thought Mrs. Garces 's class was lucky to have a chance to do an experiment like that because I would love to do an experiment on edible food because you get to eat it after and it probably would taste really good.

Dear 5th grade teachers,
I think the activity Mrs.Garces's looked super cool. I wish Mr.Honda's class could do the same thing when we get to that chapter.
